About this experience

Discover the raw geological drama of Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula on this private, full-day luxury Super Jeep tour. Travelling in a modified 4x4 with your own dedicated English-speaking guide, you'll move from black sand dunes and basalt cliffs to steaming geothermal fields and ancient lava tubes — all at a pace that suits your group.

Your first major stop is Raufarhólshellir, the fourth-longest lava tube in Iceland. A guided walk inside reveals extraordinary lava formations, vivid mineral colours, and the deep, otherworldly silence of a cave carved by flowing magma. From there, the route continues into Reykjanes Geopark, a UNESCO-recognised site where you'll explore the crater lakes of Kleifarvatn and Grænavatn and walk the boardwalks of Seltún past bubbling mud pools and hissing hot springs.

The peninsula's coastline brings further highlights: Reykjanesviti, one of Iceland's oldest lighthouses, stands above dramatic cliffs near the Gunnuhver geothermal area, steeped in local ghost legend. A short drive leads to the Bridge Between Two Continents, where you can stand astride the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. A visit to Viking World museum rounds out the cultural side of the day.

The tour concludes with time at the Blue Lagoon — note that entry tickets are not included and must be arranged separately — followed by a dedicated Northern Lights search using live aurora forecasts to find the darkest, clearest skies. Northern Lights sightings are never guaranteed, as they depend on natural conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Are Blue Lagoon entry tickets included in this tour?
No. The tour includes a stop at the Blue Lagoon so you can visit the exterior and take photos, but entry tickets to bathe in the lagoon are not included in the tour price and must be arranged separately.
Is the Northern Lights sighting guaranteed?
No. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will monitor live aurora forecasts and drive to the best available dark-sky locations, but sightings depend on solar activity, cloud cover, and other conditions beyond anyone's control.
How many people can join this tour?
This is a private tour priced per vehicle for up to 4 passengers. Your group will have the jeep and guide exclusively to yourselves throughout the full 12-hour experience.
Can I be picked up from Keflavík Airport instead of a Reykjavík hotel?
Yes. Pickup from Keflavík Airport or from locations outside the Reykjavík metropolitan area is possible, but an additional charge applies. Let the operator know your preferred pickup point when booking.
What happens to the itinerary in winter or bad weather?
Iceland's weather can be unpredictable. The operator may adjust the route if conditions are unfavourable. In winter (November to February), limited daylight means some sites may be visited in low light or darkness, and occasionally a stop may be skipped to ensure safety and quality.
What should I wear and bring on this tour?
Wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy waterproof walking shoes. Bring a hat, mittens, and a scarf. If you plan to bathe at the Blue Lagoon, pack a swimsuit — but remember to arrange your entry ticket separately in advance.
