The day begins in Hveragerði, where the Eilífur Geyser erupts every 15–20 minutes inside the Geothermal Park. You'll also taste hverabrauð — traditional Icelandic rye bread baked underground using geothermal heat — before continuing to the striking red-earth walls of Kerið Crater, which measures 270 metres wide and plunges more than 55 metres deep.

The classic Golden Circle landmarks follow: the thundering double cascade of Gullfoss waterfall, the Haukadalur geothermal valley where Strokkur shoots columns of water 20–30 metres into the air every 5–10 minutes, and the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and Iceland's ancient parliament, Alþingi, was founded in 930 AD.
