This 11-hour small-group tour combines two of Iceland's most celebrated experiences into a single seamless day. Starting with a morning hotel pickup, you'll journey through the Golden Circle before heading out after dinner to hunt the aurora borealis.
The Golden Circle portion begins at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland's first parliament was established in 930 AD and the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. From there, the tour continues to the Geysir Hot Spring Area, home to the famous geothermal field where spouting geysers erupt with remarkable regularity. The final Golden Circle stop is Gullfoss, the thundering two-tiered waterfall whose mist and raw power can be felt up close from the viewing paths.
After the Golden Circle, you are dropped off in central Reykjavík with free time to enjoy dinner at a nearby café or restaurant. In the evening, your guide collects you again for the northern lights hunt, driving well beyond the city's light pollution to give you the best possible conditions for spotting the aurora.
Your guide monitors aurora forecasts and weather conditions throughout the evening to maximise your chances. Professional northern lights photos are taken on your behalf, included in the tour. The tour concludes with a drop-off at or very near your hotel.
