Dive into one of the world's most extraordinary underwater environments on this wetsuit snorkeling tour at Silfra fissure, located within the Þingvellir National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site, approximately 50 km from Reykjavík. Silfra is a freshwater canyon formed where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates drift apart — meaning you will literally snorkel between two continents.
The visibility in Silfra is exceptional, with sightlines of at least 100 metres in water so pure it feels like floating through air. Adventure Vikings is the only snorkeling operator in Iceland offering wetsuit snorkeling, giving participants the freedom to dive below the surface and explore the underwater canyon up close — something a drysuit does not allow.
No diving licence or prior snorkeling experience is required. All necessary gear is provided, and your English-speaking guide will brief you fully before entering the water. The snorkeling portion lasts approximately 30–40 minutes, with the full tour running around 4 hours 30 minutes including hotel pickup, transfer, briefing, and suiting up.
The tour includes morning hotel pickup from downtown Reykjavík, drop-off after the tour, free underwater photos taken during your snorkel, and hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. A GoPro camera rental is also available on request.

How cold is the water in Silfra, and will the wetsuit keep me warm?↓
The water in Silfra is very cold year-round. The wetsuit covers your entire body but does not fully protect you from the cold. Participants should expect to feel the chill and are advised to dress warmly before and after the snorkel session.
What are the physical requirements for this snorkeling tour?↓
Participants must be at least 12 years old, between 145 cm and 200 cm tall, and weigh between 45 kg and 120 kg. You must be physically fit, able to swim, and comfortable in water. Pregnant participants are not recommended to join due to cold water temperatures.
