About this experience

This private 8-hour Super Jeep tour combines the best of Iceland's Golden Circle with an exclusive guided snorkeling experience in Silfra fissure. Travelling in a dedicated Super Jeep with your own driver-guide, you set your own pace and enjoy fully personalised service throughout the day.

Your first stop is Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart. Here you can walk the very ground where Viking settlers founded Iceland's parliament over a thousand years ago. You then suit up for private guided snorkeling in Silfra, one of the world's premier dive sites. The fissure is fed by glacial meltwater from Langjökull glacier, filtered through lava fields for decades, producing visibility exceeding 100 metres and water so pure it is drinkable straight from the source.

Next, the tour continues to the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur, where hot springs, steam vents, and blue algae surround the powerful Strokkur geyser, which erupts approximately every five minutes. The final Golden Circle stop is Gullfoss, a dramatic two-tiered waterfall that plunges into a deep gorge — widely regarded as Iceland's most impressive waterfall. A coffee or lunch break at Gullfoss Café or Geysir rounds out the day before the return drive to Reykjavík.

The tour operates year-round and, as a fully private experience, your start time is flexible and confirmed at checkout. The operator reserves the right to reverse the route to avoid crowds.

Your private Super Jeep departs from your Reykjavík hotel at a time confirmed during checkout. The full-day tour lasts 8 hours and covers all three classic Golden Circle landmarks plus a snorkeling session in Silfra.

  • Þingvellir National Park: Walk the rift valley between two continents and explore the site of Iceland's ancient Viking parliament.
  • Silfra snorkeling: Your guide fits you with a drysuit and all necessary gear. Glide through the fissure and taste the glacial water as you go. Visibility regularly exceeds 100 metres.
  • Geysir geothermal area: Watch Strokkur erupt, explore hot springs and steam vents, and observe the vivid blue algae formations.
  • Gullfoss waterfall: Experience the full force of this iconic two-tiered waterfall before a refreshment break at the on-site café.

The operator may reverse the route order. Iceland's weather can change rapidly, so layered, waterproof clothing is strongly recommended for all stops.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need snorkeling experience to join the Silfra snorkeling session?
No prior snorkeling experience is required, but participants must be comfortable in water and able to swim. You must also meet the height requirement of 145–200 cm and weight requirement of 45–120 kg, be at least 14 years of age, and not be pregnant.
What should I wear for the snorkeling in Silfra?
Wear thermal underlayers such as long warm underwear or a sweat suit, plus warm socks. The operator provides a drysuit over your own clothing. Bring an extra pair of woollen socks and a towel. Glasses cannot be worn; bring a prescription mask or contact lenses if needed.
Is the Golden Circle route always followed in the same order?
Not necessarily. The operator reserves the right to reverse the route order to avoid crowds. All three Golden Circle stops — Þingvellir, the Geysir area, and Gullfoss — are included regardless of the order visited.
Can children participate in this tour?
Children aged 5 to 11 years are welcome on the Golden Circle portion of the tour. The Silfra snorkeling session requires participants to be at least 14 years of age, so younger children would not be able to snorkel but can still join the rest of the day.
Is food included, and where do we stop to eat?
A coffee or lunch break is included at either Gullfoss Café or the Geysir area. Hot chocolate is provided as part of the tour. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or snacks if you prefer.
Can I rent a camera for the snorkeling?
Yes. The operator offers GoPro camera rental for 6,900 ISK. A waterproof camera of your own is also recommended for capturing the underwater scenery in Silfra.
